My Philosophy
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Individual counseling is for those individuals who are in emotional pain and desire relief. People who participate
in the counseling process often find they can dramatically reduce or eliminate their emotional pain by strengthening
their "core self". Clients learn to appreciate their uniqueness. They learn to love and respect themselves. They
learn they have the power to change their lives for the better by changing how they think, feel and act. Clients often report feelings of relief, empowerment and hope as a result of working with me in the counseling
setting.
COUPLES COUNSELING
Your relationship with your significant other is the most important relationship you have. It makes sense to
invest in making it the best it can possibly be. Couples counseling provides couples with an opportunity to work
on their relationship in a constructive manner. Focusing on the inherent strengths of the relationship, couples learn
to build on what works. They also learn what each contributes to both the problem times as well as the good
times. Even if your significant other does not choose to participate in the counseling process, you can still
learn how to make changes in your behavior that can improve the quality of your relationship.
FAMILY COUNSELING
A happy home is a peaceful home. Family counseling is helpful when one or more members of a family are
experiencing difficulties. Families are systems, much like the eco-system. Family members are interdependent upon
each other and each is affected by the actions and words of the other. Although one member of the family may be
viewed as having the "problem", often it takes the entire family working together to resolve the issue. For
example, a child's tantrums may be the result of inconsistent parenting. In order to improve the child's behavior,
changes in the mom and dad's parenting practices are necessary. To see the child only in counseling is not nearly
as effective as seeing the child along with mom and dad. If your family is not functioning as you would like it
to, consider the value of working together with a trained professional to improve the lives of those you love
most.
